Trams deemed the most reliable means of public transport in Riga
An overwhelming majority of respondents (81%) point at the fact that trams are getting into traffic jams less frequently. Therefore, going by tram is often more comfortable and takes less time than by trolleybus or bus.
10% of respondents point at trams being least subject to the impact of weather conditions. Trams prove to be faster in winter, when other means of public transport use to depart from their schedules.
The ability of trams to keep to their schedules is particularly stressed by 6% of respondents, which prove the assertion that trams are late least frequently, whereas 3% see their advantage in the network of tram routes, which provide convenient connection to major districts of Riga city.
More than 3200 visitors of "Rīgas satiksme" webpage took part in the opinion poll held in January, this year.
The opinion poll on the webpage of "Rīgas satiksme" confirms earlier information that this winter, particularly in December, trams were by far less frequently late if compared to other means of public transport, and that they are the fastest public transport in Riga.
In February, the webpage of "Rīgas satiksme" will publish a question about where passengers prefer to buy and to reload their e-tickets. The results of this opinion poll will be published on the webpage of Rīgas satiksme early in March.
In January, the webpage of "Rīgas satiksme" was visited more than 648 000 times, but information about transport news was searched more than 1.5 million times. Public transport schedules were looked for at http://saraksti.rigassatiksme.lv more than 4 million times.
